For my alter ego I created Mary Posa, an alien butterfly. The essence of this character is that she is a free spirit and defies the nature of reality. She is very spiritual and always trying to expand her consciousness to higher dimensions. I also incorporated political statements into my work. Mary Posa is deeply troubled by the current state of our planet and specifically of our country. There are references to the issues with the Trump administration and their disregard for climate change (e.g., forest fires), the supreme court and the police. I am actually very stressed and overwhelmed in regard to these issues so I created Mary Posa as an alter ego who gets to escape the troubling realities of the world and relax in beach vacations or in various galaxies. She represents a relaxed, enlightened being that is capable of rising above these issues and living in a world of bliss. Something I sometimes wish I could do as well. As a non art major and someone who has never used any of these applications, even some of the simplest of pieces took a long time for me to complete. It was a great opportunity to learn to work with these applications and I hope to improve as I get more practice moving forward.
