My name is Sydney Hewitt and I am a senior at CU Boulder majoring in Psychology and Minoring in Business and Public Health. My interest in digital art was inspired by my passion for marketing. While I may not be directly pursuing a career in art, I would still describe myself as an artist. I believe that the essence of mindfulness can manifest in many different artistic forms. The first form that taps into my philosophy of life come thru yoga practice and yogi-inspired tattoos.
My educational experience in art is not very diverse however I use art as a form of personal expression. For me art is a way to reconnect with myself and tap into a peaceful meditative state. I enjoy abstract acrylic painting, I am inspired by freedom and therefore I do not plan what I will create in advance. I simply put paint on my brush and see where the experience will take me.
I am also inspired by nature and the beautiful art it naturally creates. This has led me to find art in photography and always have my mind open to various mediums of art that are are always around us. The most recent form of art that I have adopted is wire wrapping crystals and pendants into jewelry. This form of art is very fulfilling for me as the outcome is a physical, tangible and functional object.
